'SEAMING' - performative life drawing
19 August 6pm - 9pm
HEATHER BONNIE REID
Heather Bonnie Reid was awarded The Northern Charter graduate bursary prize for 2018/19. With this opportunity she used the Northern Charter project space to workshop and present two performative life drawing sessions during spring 2019.
Following these The Northern Charter have invited her to present two more performative life drawing sessions as part of their public programme. The first of these sessions SEAMING will be on Monday 19th August 2019, 6pm-9pm.
Heather is a writer, sculptor and fiddle player. Her art chases a place between women and rocks, she wants her sculptures to feel like open armour, cracked nut shells, shiny and dangerous. Life modelling has grown into both a stage and a branch for and of her art. In the life drawing sessions, she holds her sculptures, recites scripts and plays her fiddle while modelling.
In this upcoming session SEAMING the performance will build out from a new text about climbing, swimming and sewing.
The audience are invited to draw or write in reaction, or simply watch. Paper and pencils will be provided, however bring any of your own materials that you may prefer. After the session, there will be hot food to share, giving time for conversation.
